5.2 Example 2: High-Density Silhouette of a Cat

In this example we reconstruct the silhouette of a cat, sampled by a high density dataset with subtle changes on the curvature and some sharp peaks around the ears. Our experimental results are graphically depicted in Fig. 3, where the meaning of the pictures in this figure is similar to those in Fig. 2. As shown in Fig. 3, due to the high density and uniform sampling, the cases of deterministic parameterization and optimized parameterization are almost visually indistinguishable from each other for this example. This fact is also confirmed by very similar numerical values for both cases in Table 1.Table 1Summary table of our numerical results for the three examples in the paper.
